Summary: Thomas Jefferson was mainly known as a man of many contradictions. Although Thomas Jefferson was a slave owner, he believed that slavery was a horrific movement in society. He repeatedly expressed that slavery should be completely abolished, and supported the freedom of slaves.
However, he believed that blacks, or slaves will never be able to live in the same community and environment as the white in tranquility and agreement.
Thomas Jefferson has been recognized and remembered by many as the US minister to France, secretary of state, governor of Virginia, vice president, but most of all as the president of the United-States and the author and the launcher of the "Declaration of Independence." In the time when slavery was growing in Virginia, he was the president of the United-States, owner of many large plantations and 200 slaves, and also known as the wealthiest man in his province. However, Jefferson was mainly known as a man of many contradictions.
