Summary: Like most of Sylvia Plath's work, this poem revolves around death, more specifically her obsession with suicide. This free style poem, however, presents this morbid topic with beauty and vivid imagery using all of the senses which leaves your imagination sparked long after you have finished reading it.
Like most of Sylvia Plath's work, this poem revolves around death, more specifically her obsession with suicide. This free style poem, however, presents this morbid topic with beauty and vivid imagery using all of the senses which leaves your imagination sparked long after you have finished reading it. Overall, the words create a calm view of wanting to no longer live. It portrays death in a good way, like we will die but we will be closer in the end.

The very first line of the poem, ."..But I would rather be horizontal," does not directly lead the reader to believe that the author or the narrator of this poem
