However, new limitations are being set on stem cell research, and they are greatly restricting the things that scientists can and cannot do. These boundaries, such as the cancellation of federal funding, are the things that are keeping scientists from finding cures for patients such as Michael J. Fox and the Pope ("Doctors"). In some instances, such as Christopher Reeve for example, stem cell research could have been the key to keeping him alive, but unfortunately, it was too late. Along with these national Icons, it is important to realize that there are hundreds of thousands of people that have diseases that can be helped by embryonic stem cell research (Espejo 39).
