Political Correctness Has Gone Too Far
Summary: Political correctness, when used correctly, enables us to bridge any boundaries between cultures, faiths, and societal differences. However, political correctness as we know it today is overly used and out of control, as anything considered the slightest bit offensive is seen as politically incorrect. Such political correctness needs to be toned down so that it does not violate our freedom of speech.
Political correctness was introduced in an effort to increase tolerance for a diversity of cultures, race, gender, ideology and alternate lifestyles. Political correctness also tried to compel everyone to avoid using words and seemingly idiosyncratic behavior that appears to be discriminating or offending to various groups of people. To put it bluntly, political correctness as we know it today is a far cry from what it was set out to be all those years ago.
Whilst political correctness has its flaws, political correctness is still a vital part in society to some degree. It is designed to better this generation and it is designed for a better world overall, in theory though. If anything, political correctness is nothing more than a play on words, to substitute offensive words with words that are not as shocking to others.
