People seem to be disagreeing about whether a balance of the good and bad outcomes should be considered or whether moral duty should shape our judgment. Federal policy must seek a certain balance between two competing interests: the progress of medical research and therapy, and respect for the creation of human life. To some people stem cell and cloning research disrupts this balance and invades the sacredness of human life, while others see it as a way to improve our lives. In this essay I will present both sides including those who support bio-technology fully and those who feel it should be restricted on moral grounds.
