Becoming America deals with the opinion of the author John Butler as he disputes the significant importance of the often overlooked time period of 1680-1770 and how it greatly shaped our nations culture. Within the book Butler describes how America had created their own economic system and was less dependent on the English than most people think. This novel describes how the distinctive culture of America was not created from the victories and defeats from the revolutionary war, but during the extreme changes that occurred during 1680-1770.
