Watercolour Painting
Watercolour painting was first invented in Europe. Before watercolour paints people commonly used Buon Fresco painting which was similar to watercolours it used pigments in a water medium then painted onto wet plaster. A very famous example of this style of painting is the Sistine Chapel. The earliest known watercolour painting was by Raffaello Santi, who painted full scale cartoons as templates for tapestry designs. The first school of watercolour painting was set up in Europe by Hans Bol who used influences such as German watercolour painter Albrecht Durer.
