Bismark as an Exponent of 'Real Politik'

A real politician is defined as someone who takes advantage of situations as they present themselves. Otto Von Bismarck is definitely a character who falls into this category of leadership. Through his incredible vision and understanding of 19th century politics he was able to create an empire while simultaneously changing the map of Europe forever.
Besides acting when situations and opportunities presented themselves, he also made many pre-empted moves and decisions which proved his ability to adapt to different situations and incorporate them in his long plan terms. It is this ability that made him such a good leader and strategist.
