A Cloud of Ignorance in Our Town
Think about this, do you spend and waste time each and every day as though you had a million years to live? Throughout Our Town Thorton Wilder illustrates the theme that people are basically the same no matter when or where they have lived. He projects this by having the audience view normal people in an ordinary town called Grover's Corners, Massachusetts. Wilder portrays the daily lives or its inhabitants and how unappreciative they are of the impact these events have on their personalities. He exhibits these patterns by demonstrating the characters' routines, traditions, expectations and wants.
