Summary: Two poems, "Urban Renewal" by Rhonda Adams and "Urban Spell" (no author listed), discuss city life in similar ways, although the figurative language differs.
In this essay I will be comparing two poems. The first poem being "Urban Renewal", and the second being "Urban Spell." What you will learn in this essay is some similarities of this poem and some of the differences.

These two poems share many general similarities. The two poems both discuss elements of the city and the city life in general. The two poems give the reader a great picture of the buildings, houses, concrete, and streets etc. The poems are easy to relate to each other; because in each of the poems the city is described as both positive and negative. "Around me the city clanks like an officious machine." In this line the author is telling the reader that the city is almost annoying. The author uses a very descriptive verb "clanks" as to say the city is producing a sharp, harsh sound. In this poem...
