Use of Dramatic Devices in Act 1 of "An Inspector Calls"
The play "An Inspector Calls" was in 1912, which was a very catastrophic year for England. It was written in the winter of 1944-45. It was first staged in Britain in the year 1946.
These dates are significant in the history of the world as it was set in a time when there was peace and prosperity as society appeared to be a lot calmer however, the Titanic had not yet sunk. The year 1944 was the final year of WW2 and from what we know; most people were fed up of leaving in poverty since most of their properties had been taken from them. In 1946, a new labour government had been elected their main goal was to bring peace and develop the community.
