Summary: The siege of Leningrad was extremely important to the Allied victory of WWII. The Axis forces were tied up at Leningrad for 900 days, enough for the Allies to break the Axis siege on the whole of Europe.
I believe that the siege of Leningrad was extremely important to the Allied victory of WWII. The Axis forces were tied up at Leningrad for 900 days, enough for the Allies to break the Axis siege on the whole of Europe.

I believe, because of the core democratic value of Liberty that the siege of Leningrad was unjust. The Axis killed an estimated 1,000,000 Soviet people during the 900 day siege. It was not because of front line battle that these people died, it was due to disease, starvation, and the intense cold of winter. The combined German and Finnish forces blockaded Leningrad from the mainland of the USSR. The poor civilians could get no food or proper medicine because all railroad lines were controlled by the Axis. The only way to get supplies was from an ice road over frozen Lake Ladoga.
