If I was president of the United States, having a venerated leadership role in the policy making process is in this country, I would implement my ideas and change several factors of today's budgetary policies and foreign relations. In 2001 president Bush set military defense and mobilization as number one priority of the budget. Fighting terrorism in nation that had never posed any threats or attacked American soil seems surreptitious. American casualties increase the enmity of Americans towards this deleterious combat waging overseas. As president of the United States I would retrieve all troops currently fighting in Iraq and let the democratic government of Iraq take the lead in rebuilding their nation, constantly monitoring their actions and aiding them with supplies. Although this action will be frowned upon by many, it could prove to be practical. The nascent problem in this country wages at home, by using the entire budget formerly spent on war, I would improve the nation's infrastructure. Economically depressed areas numerously exist in many parts of the US. Welfare programs exploit it beneficiaries, by making them work in flagrant conditions. Congress, under my persuasion would increase domestic spending and decrease defense spending. Retrieving the troops, shift the budget and improve the nations infrastructure would be the platform of my one day office. Presidents hold a substantial amount of power that only few have exercised it, I uphold progressive ideas and former accounts point out its pragmatic integrity at improving the nation.
