In the movie Gattaca, Vincent is the last baby born into a clean environment. He cannot see very clearly and is also diagnosed with a heart problem commonly found in naturally born children. Due to his condition he is doomed to die at the young age of 30. He cannot function as a normal person in society because the people are not born like him (naturally) and therefore look down upon him. This leads to the moral issues and dilemmas that Vincent is faced with throughout the movie.

Vincent goes underground and, with the help of a swimming legend Jerome who was injured in an accident, assumes his identity to pursue his dream of being an astronaut. This is unethical and immoral because he lies to everyone by not using his real name or DNA. According to Kant, Vincent is unethical for using Jerome as a "means to an end." Jerome is in turn unethical and immoral because he is aiding Vincent in lying to the agency to get him on the flight to Saturn. After the director of the agency is murdered and the investigators try and track down Vincent because of the eyelash found at the scene, he must then be more careful to fool everyone into thinking he is a "perfect" person rather than a naturally born human.
