In areas across the world, population varies most greatly because of alterations in physical and environmental influences. This is demonstrated most easily in Asia, a land of drastically different climate regions, landforms, and weather. Asia is home to climate regions from humid-tropical, to desert, to sub-arctic regions. Some of these regions are not only undesirable for humans to live in, they are impossible for them to survive in. The same applies to the many different types of landforms, including mountains, plateaus, and basins. Many areas of Asia also experience extreme weather conditions, such as typhoons, which make these areas less desirable for human settlement. Because of these variations in the living conditions across Asia, there are many areas that are uninhibited by humans and some that are more densely populated.
