Media Violence, Too Much Exposure?
Summary: Research shows that the aeverage child watches 4-8 hours of Tv a day and that children's TV shows contain about 20 violent acts each hour.This means by the end of the day they have witnessed 120 acts of violence. Many children are exposed to far too much violence on TV each day just because TV is a conceniant babysitter.
You're sitting inside a stuffy room trying to finish your speech at the last minute, when an ear piercing cry. Comes from outside. You look out in panic expecting to see someone dead on the ground. Instead you see 2 little boys chasing after each other with toy swords pretending to be warriors. Their joyous cries fill the air and smiles stretch from cheek to cheek. One falls to the ground pretending to be wounded making gagging sounds and trying not to laugh. You remember when you were that young and wish you could go outside and play with them to.In stead you turn around go inside and continue your homework- you snap back to reality.
But in that whole time did you once question why 2 children were chasing each other with swords for fun? Did you question why they were happily applying violence to their playtime"
