First Communion
The First Communion, otherwise known as the participation in the Eucharist, is not just a celebration, but also a significant event in the life of Catholic children. It is their special welcoming into the Church. Through this event, children understand that the Christ sacrificed his blood and body for the salvation of the world. During the ceremony the children are offered bread and wine representing Christ's sacrifice. At this time, children give the Holy Ghost the greatest offering of themselves as Jesus sacrificed for them and therefore receive abundant blessings. Thus, the First Communion is regarded as the holiest event.
