Macbeth: How Themes Are Related
At the beginning of the book the quote "Fair is Foul and Foul is Fair" was said by the three witches. This quote alone starts the play off and begins Macbeth's story. This line sets the theme appearance vs. reality and also sets Macbeth's fate.
Macbeth has been one of the most interesting books ever written. Throughout this book, the theme appearance vs. reality is brought upon many times. With this theme, the book is much more understandable. The characteristics between the behaviors, characters and intentions are very easy to differentiate using this theme. Some characters even possess all both sides of a theme. A few themes that relate to appearance vs. reality are loyalty vs. treachery, good vs. evil and sanity vs. insanity.
