Early America: a Time of Instability and Change
Summary: To what extend were the late 1600s and early 1700s a period of great instability and change in American history?
Early settlers coming to America in the late 17th and early 18th century, were looking for religious freedom, and a chance to start life over again. These people were looking for change from their old lives, where they were oppressed for their religious beliefs, but were not prepare for the change and instability that they found in America. The colonists struggled to create governments and communities, but these was not their only problems. The colonists were faced with Native conflicts, Slave rebellions and resistances, and the dissatisfaction in the colonies.
Firstly, the colonists experienced Native conflict which created instability throughout the colonies. For instance, the King Phillip's War was between the Wampanoag Indians and the colonists at Plymouth. In the 1670s, the colonists forced the Indians to follow the English law, the Indian leader, known as King Philip to the English, knew that he must lead a war...
