Progressive Movement
Summary: Explores the history of the American progressive movement during the 1900s. Describes the goals of the movement and details the progress made to improve the lives of American workers.
I think the primary goal of the Progressive Movement was to correct abuses caused by industry. When people finally realized a lot of workers were being hurt on the job they came up with Workers Compensation.
Workers compensation allows workers that get hurt on the job to recover from whatever happened. While you're recovering, you also get paid. You can't get fired like in the earlier years when you got hurt. You basically were out of luck. What they did is, they "find another horse." The workers were treated like machinery.
Another law or act they passed was to shorten a woman's work day to 10 hours a day. If you were caught working the women more than 10 hours a day, Curt Muller fined 10 dollars for breaking the law.
