A Comparison of Arthurian Literature
Summary: Compares and contrasts two books based on the Arthurian Legend, The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, and Knight Life by Peter David. Discuses plot, summary, and some major themes in both books.
The Arthurian legend is widely characterized by being full of quests. The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, and Knight Life by Peter David, are both novels based on the Arthurian Legend. The Mists of Avalon is an Arthurian tale with a twist, because the whole legend is told from Morgaine, Arthur's half-sister. In this book, Morgaine is the protagonist, but Morgaine is usually known as being evil through other Arthurian classics. Knight Life is also an unique book, because it is about Arthur returning after 1500 years and tries to rule over the modern day Camelot, New York, by becoming the mayor. Morgaine of The Mists of Avalon and Arthur of Knight Life have a thing that they search for, and therefore they go on a quest, painfully overcoming hardships to obtain it.
