The Jilting of Granny Weatheral
In the story, Granny was near the end of her life and she died later on. Her husband was already dead and so was her other daughter who died while having her first child. That may have had an effect on how much she likes or dislikes her living daughter. If this story went a little deeper into the characters lives this would be an easier topic to discuss, for instance if Granny's living daughter could not have children it may make her mad or upset because she would not have any grandchildren. It probably does not help that her husband died leaving her alone therefore breaking her heart to little bitty pieces. Since I do not know that, I cannot make any accusations of that kind.
Considering the fact that I do not know the characters background I think that Granny Weatheral dislikes her daughter because she knew she was getting near the end of her life. Granny Weatheral might act as if she does not like her daughter because she may not want to leave her daughter behind when she dies. Granny might just be afraid to go on to her next life. If Granny Weatheral was one of those overprotective mothers, she might also have been afraid that her daughter will not be able to take care of herself; maybe Granny wants her daughter to have more of her traditions and other objects like recipes and other hand-me-downs like that.
In conclusion, my only near logical reason Old Granny Weatheral acts as if she does not like her daughter is because she has been gilted, possibly later forgotten, lost loved ones, and was possibly not able to have grandchildren while she was alive too.
