James Watson
James Watson was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He was a very smart boy and an excellent student. He enrolled in the University of Chicago when he was only 15. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology after four years, and then went on to earn a Ph.D. in the same subject at Indiana University. He was engaged in research at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark when he learned of the bimolecular research underway at the Cavendish Laboratory of Cambridge University in England. Watson then joined Francis Crick in his work in 1951 in Cambridge.
Watson and Crick attempted to determine he chemical structure of living matter. When their researched failed to produce results, they were ordered to end their investigations, but they dismissed the orders and continued it in secret. That was until February 28, 1953 when they made a momentous discovery.
