"August Houseplant", an experiential poem conveying the problematic turn of events as fall sets on and a philodendron needs moving.
The extended personification of a plant throughout this poem shows the personal relationship between the persona and the plant, as well as making us feel attached to the plant. The persona addresses the plant using the pronoun "you", as well as attributing the plant human "desires", as well as the acts of "exploring" and "feeling." The persona saying "It's you, dear leaves", is using juxtaposition instead referring to the plant directly as dear.
