Nautral Observation

Summary: Describes the research technique of naturalistic observation. Provides an example of such observation in recognizing a pattern between the age of the student and the sex of the instructor.

Based on its definition, Naturalistic observation is when the researcher observes their surroundings, and makes observations of behavior as it occurs in a natural environment. I realized the perfect naturalistic observation was at the Tae Kwon Do school, where I instruct. From what I had surveyed earlier, I recognized a pattern between the age of the student and the sex of the instructor. From there, I hypothesized that those who were between the ages of 3 to 11 would pay more interest to same sex instructors, while those who were from the age of 12 up, would pay more interest to the instructors of the opposite sex. I found my karate school to be the perfect setting, because the children, young adults, and adults were all varied in age, therefore there isn't a majority of one age group category.
