The ecosystem is the system of interacting organisms and their environment. This means that the ecosystem is all the animals and plants in an area and the environment that affects them.
Here are some words that have to do with the Ecosystem.
Species- Animals or Plants of the same kind.
Flora- All the vegetation in an area.
Fauna- All the animals in an area.
Population- Species living in a particular area e.g. population of ants.
Biological Community- Populations of organisms living and interacting in a particular area e.g. Pond snails.
Habitat-The natural home or living things e.g. soil
Malta has a number of Ecosystems. Some are quite common while others are rare. Here are a few Ecosystems in Malta that I saw during the school outing.
