The Sustainability of the Biosphere
Summary: Discusses an environmental experiment called "biosphere" that was held some years ago. Lists lessons to be learned from the failed experiment. States that it is impossible for humans to create and maintain their own ecosystem.
In this novel authors presented that health, enviormental quality and social cohension are in extremely bad conditions due to some thoughtless living style of human beings and what are the other factors of the slow destruction of the planet. The main question in this article is "How do we make aselg-contained enviorment that will last for a long time"(page.10). Abrahim Maslow's pyramid states the level of needs that normal human being try to achive to get a " perfect life."
We should be talking lessons form the failied experiment of "Biosphere-II" and make sure that we do not use more then what "Bio Sphere-I" gives us or we will exceed the carying capacity of Earth and the result of this masive lapse will be the ultimate punishment, extinction. As we have seen in the past, extinction has happened before and no doubt it can happen again.
