Gattaca: Which Character Achieves the Most?
Andrew Niccol's "Gattaca" conveys a bleak and very pessimistic world. He cautions that in "not too distant future" society may turn to genetic engineering to try and create the perfect human culture where genes rule. The text focuses on the genetically imperfect hero, Vincent Freeman. It is he defies the values of his world by achieving the impossible, exceeding his potential. In doing this Vincent achieves the most compared to any other character in the film. In saying so the characters who also achieved a great deal were Irene, Jerome and Doctor Lamar.
