Immigration Policy in the United States Today

Immigrants have always made up a great part of the United States, and they always will. Originally the United States was made by immigrants seeking political, economical, and religious freedom. When those immigrants came to the United States, nobody stopped them or denied them certain rights that would prevent them from succeeding or carrying out a normal life in this country. Today immigration policies are ineffective, unequal, and unfair. For example, Cuban immigrants should not be granted residency, if they come here illegally, one year after setting foot on American land while other immigrants, such as Haitians, are immediately deported. Also, hardworking illegal immigrants should not be denied basic rights such as possessing a driver's license, or a social security number. Immigration policy and the representatives working for this association should be more aware of who they are letting in their country and what they are providing for...
