Ancient Civilizations: A Foundation for the Future

The early civilizations in Egypt, India, China, and the Fertile Crescent built the foundation on which all later civilizations were based. Each made their own unique and influential contributions that enabled them to flourish. These included social, economic and political systems. Egypt's advances were particularly outstanding. These advances in medicine, time keeping, math and writing allowed the Egyptians to remain powerful for almost 4000 years.
The political systems of these regions were original and elementary. The Egyptian government was the first centralized authority. This allowed them to organize huge projects such as the Giza pyramids and to utilize the Nile to their utmost advantage. The Fertile Crescent people were almost the opposite in the sense that they not centralized and were forced abide by the Code of Hammurabi. This code was the most crucial document in their government and was extremely violent.
