An Analysis of The Articles of Confederation

Summary: Discusses the Articles of Confederation and its effectiveness in providing the United States with a stable government from 1781 to 1789.
From 1781 to 1789, the United States of America was being governed through the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation were what one could call a first draft to the Constitution. There were many flaws in the Articles of Confederation, and they did not provide the United States of America with a very effective government at all.

The Articles of Confederation were drafted during the Revolutionary war in 1777 by the Continental Congress; the same gentlemen who signed the Declaration of Independence. By looking through these Articles, one could detect very easily the wariness that the Americans had of setting up a new centralized government. Because they were afraid that the needs of the individual states and people would be ignored by a national government that had too much power and that said government would abuse such power, the Articles of Confederation bestowed the largest amount of power on the...
