The Vietnamese New Year Holiday
The season of Tet occurs around the beginning of February and the end of January. Every Vietnamese stops his daily labor around the week of the New Year in order to prepare for a series of days and nights celebration.
A Westerner might define Tet simply as the Vietnamese, Chinese or Korean celebration of the lunar New Year; however, Tet means so much more. Tet has a deep personal, religious and family significance for Vietnamese people. Tet is an occasion in which all family members make an extraordinary effort to come together. An adverse circumstance such as cost or distance does not deter family members from reuniting.
