Thoughts on "Damnation of a Canyon"

Summary: A commentary on Edward Abbeys's essay "The Damnation of a Canyon", about Glen Canyon and the Colorado River.
"The Damnation of a Canyon" by Edward Abbeys was a very effective article. The author was very persuasive in his statements. It was very obvious that Glen Canyon meant a lot to the author. He states on page 465, "The canyonlands did have a heart...Glen Canyon and...Colorado River." He described the river as "golden." I believe this article could persuade the reader to share his views.

Although I've never been to Glen Canyon or the Colorado River, I do agree with this article. From what Abbeys describes about the way the canyon was before the changes were made, it sounds like a wonderful place. I definitely agree with the cost. I don't think it should cost an arm and a leg just to be able to go out and do something they enjoy. The people who once enjoyed going to the canyon deserve to have it back...
