Among several historical events which make-up history, one significant account is the Berlin Airlift. The Berlin Airlift was an operation in which; the United States helped West Berlin survive a blockade enforced by the Soviet Union. Through the hardships the Berliners had to endure and the resentment of the United States' forces supplying their every need for three hundred and twenty seven days, they were willing to accept it, in hopes of Germany reuniting, and as a non-communist country. The Soviet Union's communist leadership and control over East Berlin caused the United States to take such a strong stand to assist West Berlin.
