What Should be Considered in the University of California's Admission System

Up in the Silver Creek Hills, a new high school was recently built. Funded from the property taxes of million-dollar neighborhoods, the school had the most educational programs, laptops for every individual student, and an even more rigorous courseload. I knew a few people who jumped at the opportunity to attend the new Evergreen High School. However, many found the heavy courseload overwhelming and did not stay very long.

These students were among the top ten percent of their classes. However, Evergreen High School had a different standard. When it comes time to fill out applications, these new graduates from Evergreen High School will have more to put on their transcripts because of where they live. Is it fair to the other University of California applicants coming from less fortunate families? It sure doesn't sound fair. The intellect of a student can't be printed out on a few...
