The characters in David Malouf's novel "Fly Away Peter" are used to show Jim Saddler who he is. Malouf shows this by describing Jim as innocent, naïve and patient. It helps by Malouf telling you about Jim's life, the terror, anger, happiness that Jim goes through to make him the man he becomes at the end of the novel.
