Henry VIII was a very beloved king in England throughout his period of reign from1509-1547. Although he had his critics, he maintained respect from his subjects and was a quite popular king and, as it was held by many of the time, a very handsome one as well. Most widely known for his several marriages, his accomplishments and intelligence are often overlooked. Nevertheless, Henry VIII was a greatly influential king.
Henry VIII, born in 1491, was not expected to become king anytime soon. In fact, he was raised and educated for a future in the church. Given a more progressive education in the arts and literatures than his brother, Henry bloomed into a well-rounded individual writing poems, composing music, and excelling as an athlete.
