Amelie is a film which shows that a response to a change may create further positive changes to one's life. The outset of the film outlines the life of Amelie, a girl who finds happiness in life's simple pleasures, such as cracking the top layer of a crème brulé with a teaspoon, too afraid to accept happiness for herself. Her childhood is surmised using strange examples of what she enjoys, finishing with an older Amelie much the same `time has changed nothing, Amelie still seeks solitude, instead she amuses herself with silly questions of the world below'.
The significant changes which take place during Amelie are part of a chain reaction of changes which originate from a spontaneous change. Many characters are changed as a result of Amelie, and in the process Amelie herself changes profoundly.
