An archetypal example is the Holocaust, its immediate aftermath showed not only the worst in humanity, but also the best in humanity as will. Post-Holocaust the Jewish population was introduced to a more accepting society. Even though there was hate the number of Anti-Semitic believers had decreased after experiencing the Holocaust. Many people after the Holocaust realized the extent of genocide that had been conducted.
The Holocaust was a very serious event and the world realized very quickly that this was unacceptable. Large populations of the victims still live today and this has allowed the stories of the Holocaust to be told from generation to generation.
