Gerald Croft is an attractive man, about thirty years old, who is too manly to be dandy. He is an easy well-bred man about town. He is a wealthy capitalist, who comes from a rich and successful family. As he comes from an important family, his father in-law is interested in him being engaged to his daughter, because it could bring a lot of wealth into his family and business. As mentioned before, he is engaged to Sheila Birling, the woman he loves. His relationship with the Birling family is familiar and easy going. Although he is engaged to Sheila, he had an affair to a woman named Eva Smith, who was his mistress for about to months. His life seems to go well until his affair with Eva is revealed.

The relationship between Gerald and Eva is revealed when the inspector says the name of Daisy Renton...
