Egyptian Funeral Rites
Summary: The essay contains all funeral rites practised in ancient Egypt. The essay follows the process of a death of a pharaoh, it's embalming process, the coffin, the tomb, the procession to the tomb etc.
In ancient Egypt, Egyptians praised and loved the gods, the gods affected every aspect of their life. They wanted to live amongst them in the afterlife, in paradise for eternity, hence mummification. A preservation method used by the Egyptians, to assist the dead to reach the house of Osiris. Death and the procession afterwards was a magnificent and elaborate series of ceremonies and rituals. When a great pharaoh passed on they were buried in a very decorative, complex and genius monuments, the pyramids. However it was not always so, we shall discuss the development of mummification, funeral rites throughout the Dynasties.
