Escher
Summary: Essay provides a description of the character of Escher.
As a child, Maurits always had a very intense creative side. He often claimed to see shapes in the clouds. He never seemed to have a natural drawing ability and as a result, his pieces took a while to complete, he even required numerous attempts to complete a piece to meet his requirements. At a young age he often drew landscapes from unusual perspectives and sketched numerous plants which generally appeared in his later work. His first work appeared in 1922 featuring regular division of the plane Eight Heads. Escher soon became obsessed with the regular division of the plane. He felt he could improve the work of he Moorish artists and use his own work as a geometric grid which he designed to fill a plane.
