This time period in France, lasting between 1793 to 1794, was known as the Reign of Terror. After Louis XVI was killed, the people needed a compromise and a committee to make a government representing the people. People should have paid attention to the enlightenment ideas of Locke and other philisophes. Although the French and American Revolutions were influenced by many of the same ideas, the American Revolution was much more successful for many reasons.
