After the armistice ending WWI, Germany was in ruins. Many of its troops died in the war and it lost the war to the allies. The allies wanted to payback Germany for the damage that Germany caused them. Now that there was peace, the allies wanted to take advantage.

France and Britain mostly wanted to payback Germany. They owed America billions of dollars it had loaned them. Germany also owed millions of dollars. Germans were dieing of hunger and were very poor. After the war, Germany was completely crushed. Wilson had a plan to prevent any future wars.

Wilson's plan was the fourteen points and he believed that if every country joined the League of Nations, they would stop future wars from happening. He wanted every major country to be in the League of Nations. He wanted an end to secret alliances and self- determination among other things...
