Tragedy of Macbeth
Summary: Essay discusses the tragedy of "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare.
The character of Macbeth is a true tragedy. Throughout his story, several events and decisions eventually catch up to Macbeth and cause his noble, peaceful image to become wicked and evil, leading to his lowly downfall. Macbeth's blind ambition and personal relationships also effect his death. Along with overconfidence and greed, Macbeth comes to a tragic end both physically and spiritually.
One of the major reasons that lead to Macbeth's downfall was his relationship with Lady Macbeth. Throughout the play Macbeth is fueled by Lady Macbeth's ambition to gain more power and wealth. During the murder scenes Lady Macbeth is constantly urging Macbeth to perform the deed, and even helps Macbeth with his troubles. Her greed is a main cause of why Macbeth murders Duncan.
