Comparitive Essay
The first story takes place during a blizzard. This is revealed in the line ."..a mane of powdery snow reared up breast-high against the darker background of the stable." (Pg. 53). This example highlights just how bad the storm really is, as well as how much it is beginning to affect Ann. Ann hates being left alone during storms. However, her husband John seems distant and does not realize just how this loneliness impacts his wife. This is shown by Ann constantly talking aloud to herself throughout the storm, "I mustn't give in this way. I mustn't brood. A few hours and they'll be here." (Pg. 50).
