The viewers' attention is immediately "grabbed" at the start of the program, by the visual and audio effects first displayed. The `hook' or `teaser' begins as a series of motion clips that change between different aspects. As a series about animals and landscape, these motion clips show various animals and many landscapes featuring the Australasian region.

The clips start with the animal section. First, viewers see two snarling, black furred creatures tearing at a corpse. This clip immediately attracts attention as viewers ponder a series of questions regarding the clip. What are the animals? Where are they found? Accompanying this is tense background music, and this serves to raise the tension and suspense. Later viewing shows these black furred animals to be Tasmanian Devils.
