Summary: Essay provides a brief film review of "The Haunting."
When I saw "The Haunting" I was admonished how unrealistically, it was. It was not scary at all. The best horror films are those that have the eerie silence and the suspense building moments. The ones that get our heads spinning on what is going to happen? Who is the monster? Where will he show up? Those are some of the questions that the audience likes to ponder while at the theater. This movie did not achieve any of these things; instead, it took the approach of dazzling special effects (which were not that great at all).
