Diverticular Disease is a disease that is found in the colon. The colon starts at the
lower abdomen and forms and "J" like figure. The entire abdomen ends at the rectum, and just above rectum is the sigmoid colon. It is there where most diverticulli occur. Diverticulosis is a disorder characterized by small sac like figures, like pouches through the wall of the colon. Diverticula usually cause no symptoms until they become inflamed leading to the disease of Diverticulitis.
Diverticular disease has a lot of symptoms, mostly abdominal pain. The most common sign is tenderness around the left side of the lower abdomen. The danger of the symptoms depends on the extent of how the infections and complications are. Some of the major symptoms are tears, blockage, bleeding infections.
