Aaliyah was a successful R&B singer and an actress, born on Jan. 16, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York. Her career blossomed at an early age, at the age of 8, she began to sing at weddings, and at 9 she sang in the talent show Star Search but lost. Her aunt, Gladys Night, took Aaliyah to perform with her in Las Vegas.
